Community Involvement

Hanitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit, ecumenical housing ministry. Using donated supplies and volunteer labor, Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Since its founding in 1985, the Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity affiliate has built 64 homes and renovated 7 homes in our surrounding communities for people in need of safe, decent, affordable housing. These homes are sold at cost and with no-interest mortgages to low-income families who spend hundreds of hours helping to build their own or another Habitat house.

Members of ath Power’s Executive Team have been involved with the Merrimack Valley chapter of Habitat for Humanity for the past six years. Last year, Eileen Sciarra, our Client Development Director, served as co-chairperson for the “Building Dreams Gala”, while our Vice President, Lynn Saladini, joined her on the committee for the annual Gala to raise funds. Eileen and Lynn broke fundraising records for the annual event by raising over $100,000 - more than a 13% net gain than previous years, and more than enough to pay for one new Habitat house! This year, Eileen serves as the chapter’s chairperson, Lynn is now the co-chairperson, and Marie Spinello, ath Power’s Scheduling Manager, has also joined the committee for the Gala

The Merrimack Valley chapter is also excited to announce the year of “Women Building For Women.” Partnering with The Women’s Fund of Essex County and Lowe's as a co-sponsor for the kick-off date of May 8th, women will be working together to build a home for a woman-head of household family! Women Building for Women will happen four times a year.
